The Dakota is a very secure building. To access the building itself and many parts of the building a resident needs a key or ‘fob’. Access to the building is through two entrances on Booth St and one on Johnston Lane as well as through the person-door adjacent to the garage roller door. Key fobs are used for access to the garage, lobbies, individual floors and the garbage room. Each key fob is programmed to provide access to the appropriate floors only. A record is kept of the fobs that have been distributed to each apartment. Any lost fobs can be de-activated, so please notify the committee if this occurs.
You need the fob to get into the building, into the garage and on to your floor. You can exit the front door without a fob but you need a fob to exit the garage
To enter the building touch the fob to the reader at the front door. If the fob has been activated, there will be a soft bell-like sound. If there is no such sound coming from your fob, hold the fob closer and flat against the readier and try again.
In the lift, touch the fob to the black box with red light listen for soft bell like sound and press desired floor.
To open the garage door press button number 1 on fob if you are using a black radio fob with press buttons. (The door closes based on a timer. The sign on the garage door is not relevant). If you are using a white fob, step out of your car and place the fob against the reader on the west wall (entering) or on the eash column (exiting).
You can exit the front door without a fob but not the garage roller door. You can leave the garage through the person door to the side of the roller door
Staircases may be entered on any level but can only be exited on the ground floor unless you have a key. You cannot exit at the first floor into the garage from the east staircase
